We Could Buy a Church

Greetings, and welcome to our home!

As a family of four, we have moved between Washington, D.C. and rural SW Pennsylvania. When we began searching for our home, we considered beaches, bayous, and snow covered mountains. They would have been lovely places to call home, but they were all missing something; family. We wanted our children to have the opportunity to spend time with their loved ones and make some memories.

Real estate in SW Pennsylvania proved tricky and we considered a broad range of prices, accommodations, and locations. I made several 400 mile roundtrips to PA (with a 7yo and  2yo) to view properties we were interested in calling home. But every one of them was eliminated from the list and we considered renting until the right home came along.

Instead of a home though, it was a church that came along. My husband had emailed me countless properties before, but this time he included something in the subject line; we could buy a church.

I viewed the property the following afternoon and he made the trip to see it himself the following day. When we made the trip back to VA the day after that, we made our offer on the church. We weren’t the only ones who fell in love with the property, but the sellers chose our family.

Our church is sure to be full of surprises (and budget shattering shock)! We’re just a pair of nerds with two opinionated kids. My husband and 7 year old like playing with hammers and saws, and I like putting my background in graphic design to good use. Our 2 year old just loves ducks and pink. We are in the early planning phases of transitioning the property, but our to-do list is keeping us busy.

We invite you to join us as we make this church our home! We can’t wait to see the results ahead!
